Issues HTML emails In Outlook 2010
(I run Outlook 2010 alongside Office Home & Student 2007 under Windows 7 Home Premium, 32-bit edition.)
I bought the standalone version of Outlook as I had read that it supported HTML emails. However, to date, I have been unable to find a working option to compose email in this format that allows the insertion of background images etc.
From the garbled mess I have found online on the topic, I suspect this may be due to the fact that Word and Outlook are now a married couple and, in my case, perhaps one that isn't talking to each other??
I considered whether to upgrade to Office Home & Student 2010 in the hope that this could solve the problem but there are suggestions that, unless Outlook and Word are installed at the same time (i.e. as part of the same suite), this functionality will still be denied. Is this correct?
I have to confess that spending a lot of money on a program that doesn't work properly and indeed, in some respects, does less than a free offering (Windows Live Mail)hasn't exactly enhanced the warmth I feel in my heart for Microsoft!
My options seem to be:
i) uninstall and bin the program, reverting to free offering (presuming a backwards migration is feasible);
ii) buy yet more Office software;
iii) fix what is wrong with the existing set-up.
Are there any competent "Microsoft Marriage Guidance Counsellors" out there?
Is the issue that you're unable to insert background images into an email? Do you want this background image to be a template that you often use or have the flexibility to insert a background image on any email at anytime?
It's really the latter.
In Outlook Express and, more recently Windows Live Mail (before the update to WLM 2011), this merely involved selecting Insert>Background Image.
In Outlook 2010, this functionality appears to have been lost (?).
Grateful for any advice as to how I might regain it...
This is what I do.
# Click Page Color.
# Select Fill Effects... from the menu.
# Go to the Picture tab.
# Click Select Picture....
# Find and highlight the desired background image.
# Click Insert.
# Now click OK.
As Page Color was not among the options available on the compose screen, I guessed I'd have to add it as a custom group and, yes, this works.
I am very grateful to you.
Many, many thanks indeed!
