Lost Two Work Email Accounts
Hi, I really hope that someone can help me recover my emails from 2 work email accounts.
Everything was working fine for a long time but I altered my dns settings so that my web address pointed to a different hosting company. I was promised that there would be no issue with original company still dealing with our emails and there wasn`t for a while. On Thursday they stopped my mail service and I had no emails Thursday and Friday. I have managed to solve the problem and re-set the two email addresses, tested "send and receive" and it all works, however I have lost all my old emails. As you can imagine I desperately need to retrieve this very important information.....can someone please explain how to access the old accounts. The email addresses are the same...though I did change the passwords.....could this have caused the problem? I have read that you can retrieve pop email but ours are imap.
Regards,
Tim
Your imap accounts and folders should be in my documents. Double check all f your pst folders. If you moved toma different hosting company your emails are probably with the old hosting company.
I think the old emails should be saved in your old pst file, try to find your old pst file in your computer:
1.click Manu
2.click search
3.type '*.pst' and search
Then find your pst file, inport the pst file into your outlook, the old emails will appear.
If the pst file is found, but old emails still can't find, maybe the pst file is corrupted, you can try to use some third-party tools to recover the pst file.

Thank you for your replies.
I have tried to search for pst files and it shows
Documents Outlook (1), then when I click on it says "Outlook data files must be opened from within Outlook" I have tried to find the missing mail within Outlook but with no success.
I think you need to import the pst file into your outlook, not just click it.
1.open your outlook
2.click 'File'
3.click 'open'
4.choose the 'outlook datafile'
5.find your pst file
By doing this, you can import your pst file into your outlook.
Thank you Julie,
I have followed the steps but after choosing the "outlook datafile" all I see is another Outlook Icon on the right hand side and tabs on the left of favourites, desktop, downloads, recent places, libraries etc...
Step 5 of finding my pst file is where the problem seems to be, I can`t find it.
Thanks,Tim
Hi, just checked again and my old emails have returned!!
Whether it was something I did or not I don`t know, because I had contacted 1&1 and they said that they would retrieve them but nothing had happened for 3 days...and now they are back.
Thanks all for your advice.
