Outlook 2010 "No Previewer Installed"
There are two Windows 7 64 bit machines here that give error message "This file cannot be previewed because there is no previewer installed for it" when attempting to open any Office document, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, etc. Previewers for PDF's and non-Office documents open fine.
I've tried reinstalling Office 2010 and tried 32 bit version as well. I'd like to avoid reinstalling Windows 7 if possible.
Well get it fixed. So are you running 32 or 64 bit now? What version of windows?
Windows 7 64 bit. Office 2010 64 bit.
i don't know why 64 bit machines are having so many issues with preview. Adobe had an issue and finally fixed it. Its generally an authentication issue. Try this and see if this works?
Go to start, then run. Type dcomcnfg and push o.k. Component Services should come up.
Expand Component Services, click on Computers, then "Right click" on My Computer and go to "properties".
Click on Default Properties tab, and make sure the following is set:
Default Authentication Level: Should say Connect, not "None"
And Default Impersonation Level: SHould say Identify.
When those are set properly, hit o.k and turn on your protected mode back on your Office applications.
this didn't seem to work for me. is there anything else i'm missing?
That fixed both machines! I've been searching forums and kb articles for a week and haven't found this solution. I just started an IT position, and this has been plaguing these two users for six months! Thanks for your help.
Hi,
I have the exact same problem. Windows 7 x64, Office 2010 x64, can preview a ton of other items, just not Excel, Word, Powerpoint...
Very frustrating...
Hi,
Not sure when above was posted but did anybody tell you how to fix this problem ?
