Cannot save in Word
This is my first post and I hope someone can help. For some reason Word will not let me save anything. When I hit the save as or save buttons nothing happens, also with trying to save from the office button.
I am running Windows 7 and this only started happening recently. I have been running Office 2010 form a few years with no problems until now...Please help...!!!
How do you know it isn't saving? (What do you mean "nothing happens"?)
Have you tried Save As?
I have tried save as and do not get a save as box opening. I click on the buttons on the quick access toolbar but they do not work, for opening a doc either. If I go to the file menu to do the same thing that doesn't work either.
What troubleshooting have you already tried?
It doesn't sound like you have tried anything... is it just one doc or all docs? How many docs have you tried? What happens when you make a new doc and try to save it?
Are these things working in Excel?
Is it just open and save that don't work, or other commands as well?
Did everthing used to work and quit, or is this a brand new install of Word?
Did you recently install a new product on this machine? Has anything changed on this machine lately?
Please don't be stingy with details. If you want help, you have to be more forthcoming.
I have tried looking in options to see if something has changed there, but all is as it should be.
I am working on a booklet but when I went to make changes and tried to save it it didnt save. I then tried to save it using save as but the save as box didn't open.
Having the same problem with Excel...
Problem also also opening a document except when using open recent, which works ok.
Been using Office 2010 for a few years and this is the first time it has happened.
I did a check to see if I had installed anything recently that might be interfering with Office, but couldn't see anything.

Can you please tell what error are you getting while saving your document in Word? There are different errors that might occurs while saving documents. So if you tell me the error it will be easier for me to help you.
I am getting no error messages, I get no option to save as... When I go to file save as...it just takes me back to the page I am working on.
I have the same issue as MS Word after creating a document, I go to SAVE AS and it hangs.... I receive a windows indicating that MS has stopped working....
and it times out...
It works in safe mode however.... is it a driver problem? If so which one?

When I open word 2010, a window appears 'microsoft visual basic for application'. 'file not found' 'ok' 'help'.
I click on 'help', all that is written there does not make much sense or help me at all.
when i click on 'ok', the program word opens with a new page and i can type and so on. but when i try to save my document, i click on 'file', 'save as', it just reverts to my typed document. I cannot save at all, clicking on 'save', the same happens or rather, nothing happens....the typed document just stays as is.
I called microsoft customer service......cut a loong.... story short.....the MS tech finally called me and told me to reinstall office 2010. even after this was done, still cannot save.
then he suggested i create another user account. we tried and yes, was able to save. Now I'm suppose to back up alll my files and transfer them to my new user account.
i am very upset. I pay full price for a software, not working as it's supposed to.. the tech 'solved' my problem but in actual fact just worked around it and inconvenience me to have to transfer files and all. he could not tell me what is wrong and he says he has never heard of this problem before.
everyone knows how to reformat drive, uninstall and reinstall software... that's the layman way of fixing IT problems... starting over, I don't need the tech to tell me that.....i want the company and tech to fix my problem..uhh... actually their problem software!!!!
I've been surfing for info and so far have found only some answers where the tech asked them to create new user and it works. some other answers talk about registry....i'm not tech savvy, i don't think i can handle that.
Can anyone help me or give me an idea what could be the cause or go somewhere to word 2010 or my laptop somewhere that i can configure this. many thanks!
I upgraded my system to windows 8 and it also fixed the problem, so don't what the ptoblem was but it's fixed now.
